Timetable & scheduling
Lessons are stored against named periods rather than clock times, so a shortened day, an exam week or a Ramadan schedule is one change to the day pattern instead of four hundred changes to the grid.

A shared bank of questions the whole department contributes to, and quizzes that draw from it. Two students sitting the same assessment do not have to see the same paper.

Grading & scales
The formula is configuration, not convention. Define the components, the weights, the rule for a missing mark and the scale — then freeze it on day one of term and publish it.

Live classes
Any lesson can be turned into a live room. The teacher joins as moderator; students join from the lesson they were already looking at, with no separate meeting link to distribute and lose.
- Audio, video and screen sharing through an embedded Jitsi Meet room.
- Moderator rights reserved for the teacher — students cannot mute the class or end the session.
- No extra account — attendance in the room is tied to the school login.
- Optional per lesson, so a snow day or an absent teacher does not require a different product.
Announcements
Messages are targeted by role and by group, not broadcast to all 1,200 parents. The message about the Grade 9 trip reaches Grade 9 families, which is the only way a channel stays worth reading.

Bus routes
Transport is usually the last thing a school system covers and the first thing a parent asks about. Routes are proper records with assigned drivers, ordered stops and a parent-facing view.

Both languages, properly. Skoolarz is English and Arabic throughout — interface, content, printed schedules and invoices. Arabic is right-to-left by design, not a translated skin bolted onto a left-to-right layout, and each user chooses their own language independently of the school default.
WHAT SCHOOLS ASK US
BEFORE THEY SIGN.
Do we have to take all twelve modules?
You get all of them, but you switch on what you need. Most schools start with administration, timetable, attendance and fees, then add the classroom modules once teachers are comfortable. Nothing is priced separately, so there is no commercial reason to rush.
Can it run on our own servers?
Yes. Skoolarz can be deployed on infrastructure you control, which some ministries and boards require. It changes the operational arrangement rather than the product — see the security page for what each option means in practice.
How long does setup actually take?
For a school of under 1,000 students with clean data, a working configuration takes two to three weeks including the timetable build. The variable is never the software; it is how many places your student data currently lives in.
What happens to our existing records?
We migrate the current and previous academic year as live records and archive older history as documents. That is a deliberate recommendation, not a limitation — the reasoning is written up in our migration field report.
Do parents need to install an app?
No. The parent portal is a website that works on a phone. Schools that have tried app-based portals usually find that install rate, not interest, is what kills adoption.
Can we export everything if we leave?
Yes, in structured formats including attachments and historic grades, and we will say in the contract how quickly. Ask every vendor this question, including us.
